“To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.” -Barry Goldwater
Hey folks...a very serious question for you and off the topic? Why was top DA Paul Charlton (a solid republican and fighter of drugs and immigration) asked to hang it up by the DOJ?The folks in Washington seem to have no respect at all for us in Arizona.I would be curious about what local bloggers have to say about this from the right. Has anyone heard McCain or Kyl take a position on this yet?
Here is a link to former US Attorney for the District of Arizona, Paul Charlton.http://www.usdoj.gov/usao/az/usa.htmlWhat do you all think? The man did more to fight drugs and border crime than anyone in this state. What does he get for it? And not a peep out of our two sitting Senators who put him up in 2001 for nomination.
Two possibilities for the administration asking Charlton to resign:1) He is soft on capital punishment (and the Bush administration is not).2) He is agressive on border security (which the Bush administration is not).I'm still hoping for some inside info soon.
A third possibility that I heard was that he was sniffing around investigations of Hayworth and Renzi. I would be surprised about the former and I wonder if it is an excuse to keep Republicans in this state from rebelling at his dismissal. If the 3rd, well then we should hear some serious hell and drum banging by Republicans in this state and by the people that put him up (Kyl and McCain). Shouldn't we?Best!
