Arizona 8th Blog Straw Poll Results (First Week)

The first week of voting has been completed, here are the results:

Republicans:

Rudy Giuliani 25%
Mitt Romney 18.8%
Tom Tancredo 18.8%
John McCain 15.6%
Newt Gingrich 15.6%
Duncan Hunter 3.1%
Tommy Thompson 3.1%


Democrats:

Bill Richardson 50%
Al Gore 14.3%
Barack Obama 14.3%
John Edwards 14.3%
Wesley Clark 7.1%

The results are reset for this weeks round of voting. It will be interesting to see as we move along if any of the Republican candidates can gain any separation. Right now, for our readers, the Republican race is wide open.

It will be interesting to see how these polls match up to the results of the Primaries. If Giuliani truly is this far ahead, it would seem to indicate that social conservatism is no longer important to the majority of the Republican Party, and thus make them barely distinguishable from the Democrats.

Considering that much of your readership is conservative Republicans, in light of their support for Richardson as the Dem nominee, I may have to reconsider my support for him.

Of course, I don't have any problems with any of the candidates who tied for 2nd, either.
